How far is Motel Royal Tara from Yass?
About 35 km north-west of Yass — roughly a 25-minute drive via the Hume Highway and the Burley Griffin Way.
Is Motel Royal Tara a hotel or a motel? Is it the Binalong Hotel?
Motel Royal Tara is a 20-room country motel at 27 Stephens Street, Binalong. Every room is on the ground floor with a private parking space at your door. We are a separate business from the Binalong Hotel in the village. We also run our own licensed and BYO restaurant on site — see our
Dining page for the menu.
Are the rooms non-smoking? Where can I smoke?
Yes, all 20 of our rooms are non-smoking. You are welcome to smoke on your front patio area or elsewhere outside.
Is Binalong a good stopover between Sydney and Melbourne?
Yes. We’re about 312 km from Sydney (roughly three and a half hours) and a short detour off the Hume Highway — a quiet overnight stop with private parking at your door and dinner on site most nights.
Why stay in Binalong instead of right on the highway in Yass?
Binalong is a quiet village on the Burley Griffin Way, a short detour off the Hume Highway — so at Motel Royal Tara you sleep away from highway traffic noise, in a ground-floor room with your car parked right at the door. You get the convenience of a Hume stopover with a genuinely quiet country night, and you’re back on the highway in minutes in the morning.
Which towns are close to the motel?
Yass is about 25 minutes away, Harden–Murrumburrah and Boorowa are each 20–25 minutes, Jugiong is about 35–40 minutes, Young is about 50 minutes, Galong is just up the road, and Murrumbateman and Canberra are reached via Yass. We are also on the Burley Griffin Way, an easy stop between Sydney and Griffith.
